Beaverlodge Art Club

The Beaverlodge Art Society, which was founded by Euphemia (Betty) McNaught, first became organized in March, 1980. Prior to this, on Tuesday evenings, Miss McNaught taught regular art lessons until she said she would like the group to become a club of which she would be a member. In 1987, the Beaverlodge Art group officially became a registered Society. This Society was not to be an instructional group but rather a group with common interests in promoting art. To this end we try to help beginners, plan workshops, have films, organize art shows, plan outdoor painting trips and we regularly work together supporting each others passion for art.

We were so fortunate to have Euphemia as a guide and inspiration. In November, 1988 she was presented with an award from the Beaverlodge Art Society and was appointed the honorary president of the Society.

In 1993, the Beaverlodge Art Society moved from Euphemia’s home to the Beaverlodge & Area Cultural Centre.  Betty passed away in 2002 a the age of 101.

In 2022, we dissolved the society and became the Beaverlodge Art Club.  We meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the Art room of the Beaverlodge Art & Culture Centre to discuss our projects, shows, and events.  We have a weekly paint night on Thursdays where members come together to paint and socialize.
